Fedeport unites the ports of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz

The Canarian Federation of Port Companies (Fedeport) met yesterday, unlike in previous years, those responsible for the port authorities of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife in their traditional Christmas lunch at the Embarcadero of the capital’s sports pier, where they met appointment responsible for the main operators and port agencies of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

José Juan Ramos, re-elected president of Fedeport last October, thanked Luis Ibarra and Carlos González for their presence, as well as “the broad representation of port entrepreneurs in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.” “I am sure that the regional scope of the Federation will greatly benefit our sector,” said Ramos before expanding on the opportunities of offshore wind and its impact.

According to the president of Fedeport, given the times that come, with European aid, ports will need extensions and “the reorganization of port land” in terms of use and activities. Ramos believes that it is urgent to speed up works so that they are available for the start-up of offshore wind farms ”. Hence, Fedeport is also working on European projects to respond to “a new and specialized fleet of ships”, and the president himself highlighted yesterday “the importance of joint work, with unity and corporate responsibility.” Before the toast, Luis Ibarra took the floor, thanking “the role of consensus in the port sector and the importance of SMEs as major members of the Canary Islands economy and that contribute to characterize the idiosyncrasy of the productive and commercial network, as a very concrete expression of the historic spirit of entrepreneurs in the logistics and port sector ”, according to Anílbal Ramírez.
