A cooperation agreement was approved by the governing council of the Tenerife Cabildo in collaboration with Buenavista del Norte City Council for the refurbishment of the Teno lighthouse and the subsequent establishment of an interpretation centre, with a budget of 1,646,651 Euros.
This allocation is funded through the Next Generation Funds for a project aimed at “enhancing the space and its surroundings,” as explained by Cabildo’s president, Rosa Dávila, and vice president, Lope Afonso.
“Revitalising the historic Teno lighthouse is intended to reclaim a landmark space on the island of Tenerife at a privileged location, which could evolve into a sustainable meeting spot offering a unique view of the Cliffs of the Giants,” stated the island corporation. In essence, the aim is to prepare the area for welcoming tourists and visitors.
Various works are planned for the Teno Lighthouse restoration, including connecting water and electricity to the building, adapting the property’s floor for a café or restaurant, and installing bathrooms, which would be situated below ground level next to a storage area, according to the Cabildo.

The fibre optic installation will take place alongside island roads, ensuring land availability, with an expected completion time of 10 months post-award.
The aim of expanding the telecommunications infrastructure using fibre optics in the Teide National Park aims to integrate the various locations and services within the National Park and the Cabildo, which are situated within the park’s domain, facilitating connections to the network as well as the corporate data processing centre.
Fibre optics will enable technological projects to be implemented within the National Park’s environment to enhance usage, safety, environmental conservation, and sensory equipment, among other aspects, according to the Cabildo.
