The Councilor for Urbanism of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Carlos Tarife, has demanded that the Government of the Canary Islands modify the regulations of classified activities to allow hoteliers who can place up to 50 chairs on the terrace with a simple prior communication.

In this way, the aim is to provide hoteliers with a procedure “which in the times in which we live is of vital importance for companies in the sector,” the Urban Planning councilor said in a statement, claiming that “he does not understand the attitude of the President of the regional executive, Ángel Víctor Torres, who has not finished modifying this regulation of classified activities ”.

This request is due to “a real need for businessmen in the sector, after the economic consequences that the coronavirus crisis has had for them,” he adds.

The Councilor for Urbanism has reiterated his request after a meeting he held with the Association of Entrepreneurs of the Central Zone to respond to the needs of the terraces around San Francisco Street.

Tarife announces that an agreement emerged from that work meeting for the Central Zone to coordinate with the owners of the aforementioned terraces to prepare a detailed study that orders them, in a protected area like this, which considers aspects such as the number of terraces or its aesthetics, among others.
