Two programs are committed to the good use of technologies in education

Two specific programs of the Tenerife Council They promote the responsible use of technologies in the educational community of the Island. The advisor of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, values ​​the importance of raising awareness at an early age through risk-free Internet and positive browsing school projects that fight against pornography, fatphobia or LGTBIFobia.

Medina points out that it is about offering training to boys and girls, adolescents, young people, families and teachers throughout the school year. Specific, to students from Kindergarten to High School in 174 classrooms in centers on the Island.

Medina emphasizes that the Cabildo has been working on prevention in this area for years. Thus, risk-free Internet is aimed at secondary, high school and vocational school students. It includes content on knowledge and strategies that improve relationships, searches, uses and times of connection and sexuality, affectivity, consumption, addictions, body image, fatphobia, LGTBIFobia and sexist violence, among other aspects.

Efraín Medina explains: “Now we are talking about the control of pornography in minors, a task that the Council coordinates with schools.” He also believes that “we must combat” phobias, “unfortunately on the rise.”

Navigate positively is aimed at Infants and Primary Schools to prevent and encourage positive use of the Internet and screens of the TRIC (Technology, Information and Communication Relationship). Provides content on tools to navigate with respect, empathy, affection, intimacy, personal care, self-esteem and school coexistence. New for this course are the specialized sessions aimed at families and teachers or turning young people into trainers of others in their own municipality.

The Cabildo of Tenerife commemorates International Education Day (Wednesday the 24th) with various events next week. Education holds a technical table and Medio Natural promotes environmental education with visits by schoolchildren to the Arico CAT.
