The best routes with historical places in Arona

They say that to know a place you have to walk around it. And nothing better than doing it through the magnificent corners that you can find in Tenerife.

On the Island you will find different options: from urban to coastal walks, including those that are in the middle of the mountain or in the arid southern areas. Despite their variety, if you search, you can surely learn a little about the history of Tenerife and its ancient inhabitants in each of them.

In this case, we propose some routes in which you can delve a little deeper into Aronadiscover its natural wealth, but, above all, discover some historical places that will not leave you indifferent.

Tunisian road

One of the best walking trails to enter Arona and learn part of its history is the Tunisian road. It starts from the neighborhood of the same name along an ascending path, from where you can see old agricultural buildings and uninhabited rural housesuntil reaching the highest area of ​​houses, to begin the zigzagging descent, until connecting with the chijas channel.

During this route, just five kilometers long, you will be able to appreciate the beauty of the landscape, which will transport you to the agricultural past of the municipality.

Suarez Road

Walk the Suarez Road It will take you to bygone times, since it is a goatherd’s and servant’s path that was used by the sharecroppers who lived on the Suárez farm. This rural estate contains a cattle farm and land where wheat, barley and potatoes were grown. Furthermore, it was used by neighbors of Arona and Ifonche to work the land.

As you travel through it, you will pass by places of interest such as the old hamlet of El Ancón, or spaces of agricultural tradition such as threshing floors, bread ovens, caves or terraces.

Mole Path

He Mole Path It is an old road that connected the town of Arona with Ifonche. The path ascends a gentle slope and reaches a dirt track. When taking this route you pass through spaces that remember the agricultural past of the areabased on subsistence and crop of the vine and the potato. Furthermore, its beauty is incomparable, as it could not be otherwise when touring two natural spaces, the Special Natural Reserve of the Barranco del Infierno and the Protected Landscape of Ifonche.
