Cabildo and Cepsa Foundation deliver Lego material to 20 First League teams

He Tenerife Councilthrough the Science and Technology Park, and the Cepsa Foundation delivered Lego material to 20 teams that will participate in the First League Canary Islands 2024. The initiative benefits public educational centers in view of the robotics tournament.

Fundación Cepsa will also help the travel of the two Challenge category teams that won the tournament that will represent the Canary Islands in the national phase in Alicante in March.

The island’s Minister of Innovation, Research and Development, Juan José Martínez, pointed out that “it is important that teams can develop their talent.” He added that “thanks to the agreement with Fundación Cepsa they have the necessary material to practice before the competition.”

Martínez concluded: «One of our objectives in the Scientific and Technological Park of Tenerife is “Promote learning in the scientific field through robotics and we want the Island to continue as a national reference.”

The head of Fundación Cepsa in the Canary Islands, Belén Machado, explained that “in this edition we have focused on public educational centers, whose presence had been a minority until now.” This donation allows the participation of 20 teams from 13 centers. Machado stressed that “in this way, we help them promote active and experiential learning, as well as the acquisition of skills and values ​​linked to innovation, entrepreneurial attitude and creative thinking.”

The beneficiary public educational centers are the CEIP Tierra del Trigo, Buen Paso, Los Blanquitos, San Bernardo, La Corujera, Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, La Pared, Rambla de la Cruz, Chayofa and María Rosa Alonso and the IES Canarias Cabrera Pinto, El Médano and Montaña de Guaza.

The participants are distributed as follows, according to categories and ages: five Discover teams, seven Explore teams and eight Challenge teams.
