An application will allow the 21,000 students of the University of La Laguna (ULL) have the possibility of sharing a vehicle. They will all be included, divided into several clusters (groups) to form the main bulk of the educational community, but above all it is aimed at those in the Metropolitan area where 70% of the students come fromeither. In the future it will be extended to both teachers and Administration and Services Personnel (PAS). It is one of the main conclusions of the third meeting on mobility on the Island in which civil society endorsed the measures taken in the first six months of the new mandate of the insular government of CC and PP to alleviate the recurring queues on the roads, especially on the North (TF-5) and South (TF-1) highways. He Tenerife Council received unanimous support from economic and social agents. From the first academic institution to companies or the hospitality industry and from the rest of the administrations to other groups. The president of the corporation, Rosa Davila, highlighted the involvement of all sectors and entities, whose work “is essential to reaching a solution.” In this regard, he assessed the current study as “advanced and necessary” to undertake the execution of nine works in different strategic links.

Guamasa-Los Rodeos. Francisco González highlighted the complicity in these meetings. He pointed out that since Rosa Dávila’s government took office “we have been working hand in hand with him to define those priorities that are strategic for the Island immediately and also those in the medium and long term.” Regarding specific projects, he indicated that “one that previous governments gave up on has been put on the table, such as the third lane on the Guamasa-Los Rodeos section” at its new entrance to the Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna airport. Now, he added, “it is understood as a priority, it needs the appropriate administrative steps, but progress is being made.” Another fundamental aspect is “solving the problems that exist on the links in various areas of the Island.” He stated that “the Cabildo of Tenerife has diagnosed problems with the links and will work to address them so that the institution can execute projects with the authorizations of the Government of the Canary Islands,” he stated. Likewise, he insisted that “nothing is going to stop” because, according to what he said, there are projects that are already underway and others that need administrative steps to direct them.
Positive, but… Rosa Dávila assured that the tests carried out at the end of last October on the Guamasa links with the Northern Highway gave positive results and announced that these conclusions from the studies will be presented in the coming weeks, with the help of the La Laguna City Council and the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). Despite this, she acknowledged that it will involve “alternative” actions to make it something comfortable and accepted by the neighbors.
