They prepare a ‘meet’ in Tenerife for a route with high risk of accidents

“Until a misfortune occurs, they will not stop.” With this message on his X account (formerly Twitter), the mountain guide and environmental educator José Carlos Herrero (@Insurrecto76), warned this Monday of the preparation of a meeting announced on social networks to take a tour of the Ventanas de Güímar, which is considered one of the most dangerous routes in Tenerife. The mountaineer also points out that “At the entrance there is a big sign not to enter.”

With this post, in which he attaches two images (one of the Facebook publication of the meeting and the one of the sign that warns of the prohibition of entering said place), the mountaineer wanted prevent the high risk that the organization of this type of routes entails highly dangerous and prohibited due to terrain conditions.

The Canal de las Mil Ventanas or Canal de los Mil runs through the Güímar Valley and joins the Badajoz ravine and the Agua ravine. This canal is closed because the surface along which a good part of the path runs is in very poor condition and gives way with the simple passage of people.

But if the condition of the surface is not enough to warn of the danger of falls, it should be added that a good part of it (a total of 7 kilometers of crossing) is so narrow that hikers can only go single file. . But there is more: The name of the canal is due to the fact that it runs next to a steep cliff about 1,000 meters high.

They give me this RRSS meeting to visit “Ventanas de Güimar” where at the entrance there is a large sign 👉 DO NOT ENTER ⛔ 👈 until a misfortune occurs they will not stop 😪#SafetyFirst #HikingCanarias #Self-protection pic.twitter.com/LrDrPsxaVl
