The PSOE of La Laguna has shown majority support for its general secretary and mayor of the municipality, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, to initiate the necessary actions to achieve the stability of the municipal government, through agreements with other political formations, as reported. the PSOE in a note. The decision was approved yesterday, during an extraordinary Assembly held in the People’s House of La Laguna, almost unanimously, with only one abstention.

Everything indicates that this agreement would be reached with the Canarian Coalition, as has been discussed in the media for weeks and which is already taken for granted by parties such as Unidas se puede and PP, which made repeated mentions of this imminent agreement in the last session. of the municipal plenary session last Thursday.

It should also be remembered that NOTICE DIARY It was already advanced last October that a possible agreement between the PSOE and CC for the nationalists to join the government of the Lagunero City Council would bring the positions between both parties closer when the CC supported the investiture of Pedro Sánchez (PSOE), which finally happened and opened the door to this agreement in La Laguna. Added to all this is that, after the last municipal elections of 28M, it was impossible for a government pact to go ahead between the PSOE and the other two left-wing forces, Unidas se puede and Drago Verdes Canarias. Councilor Luis Yeray Gutiérrez thanked “the support of socialist militants for a proposal that seeks the necessary stability to continue advancing progressive policies over the next four years in La Laguna. We will act responsibly and always giving priority to the well-being of La Laguna citizens when establishing possible agreements for the governance of the municipality,” the note states.

The PSOE was the party with the most votes in the elections last May, in which it obtained more than 23,000 votes and 10 councilors. To date it has been governing as a minority, since the absolute majority is 14 councilors.

The decision of the Assembly enables the general secretary and mayor to seek formulas to guarantee the stability of the municipal government throughout the current mandate, until May 2027, and address with a sufficient majority the main challenges of the municipality, such as the approval of the budgets or the drafting of a new PGO.
