He Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council last September awarded the project for the building demolition abandoned in Añaza, an old hotel whose construction began in 1973 and it remained abandoned two years later by their owners.

This was confirmed yesterday by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Zaida González, who announced that “now efforts are focused on requesting financial collaboration from other public administrations to carry out the demolition.”

González recalled that “once the contract has been awarded to the company Proyelim SM, the next steps being taken focus on expropriations, subsidiary execution and requesting financial collaboration given the high cost that this demolition will entail.”

Furthermore, he stressed that “it will be a long process, but steps are being taken so that when the money exists, we can proceed to put out to tender the detonation of the building. There is no specific date, but I am confident that it will occur before the end of 2024.”

The councilor stated that “this infrastructure is a risk for residents and aesthetically inadequate. Therefore, it will be a historic demolition that will be carried out with an explosive charge controlled by the dimensions of the property.”
