Endesa invests 1.7 million in updating the Cuesta La Villa substation

Endesa, through e-distribution, its Redes subsidiary, allocated 1.7 million euros to the comprehensive renovation of the Cuesta La Villa substationlocated in Santa Úrsula, which serves 50,900 subscribers in the north of Tenerife. The renovation project developed in this 120 megavoltamperes (MVA) substation was carried out successfully minimizing inconvenience to neighbors close to the facilitiesaccording to the company.

Endesa maintained the structure and exterior design of the building and carried out the work inside in three phases. The last one started in February and concluded recently. The project, developed in forty detailed plans, had a complex configuration to maintain the safety of the people who worked on it, as well as the installation. Job security is one of the company’s great priorities.

In the statement, the electricity company explained that strict planning of the work was carried out to ensure the quality of service to users in the north of the Island added to this substation during the time the renovation project was prolonged.

On the other hand, three transformers of 40 MVA each were located outside, for which new power and control pipelines were executed to place more than 4,600 meters of cables.

The Villa La Cuesta substation is a old electricity generating station and therefore it was necessary to remove the old and heavy concrete slabs from the interior and the employment of more than twelve tons of iron in the works.

The action carried out by Endesa at the Cuesta La Villa substation, in Santa Úrsula, makes it one of the most modern in Spain. The project, recently completed, will also serve to increase the safety and reliability of the facilities, ensure their operability and improve the capacity and speed of response to any incident, Endesa indicated.

The digitalization of electrical installations is part of the scope of the National Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Pnrtr) and aims to expand the capacity of the distribution network to favor the deployment of distributed generation and address new system requirements.
