Asmepo launches the first port SIVO in Spain in the Port of Tenerife

The objective of the Tenerife Port SIVO is to provide efficient and effective care to people in situations of vulnerability or need, through effective and coordinated management with public and Third Sector entities, and specifically in close coordination with the Port Authority. from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The SIVO will offer social, psychological, legal and mediation resources completely free of charge to users who come to it. This initiative includes collaboration with other institutions and organizations so that they can decline users and thus release the saturation suffered by Tenerife’s social services.

For Pedro Suárez, president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, “it is a pride to have awarded one of this year’s subsidies to this initiative, the port SIVO, with which a set of services will be provided, both of a informative as well as social intervention for the people and families who professionally integrate the port area of ​​Santa Cruz de Tenerife.”

“Without a doubt, it is a realistic and practical way to bring the port closer to the city, also promoting social cohesion, participation and integration of our port community, with a headquarters located precisely in the heart of our port,” highlighted the port president. . For his part, José Juan Ramos, president of Fedeport, has stated that “contributing our collaboration in this social project allows us to convey to the entire workforce our commitment not only to business development, but also to our social responsibility. corporate, as a fundamental piece of the development of the port.”

Manuel Barros, president of Asmepo, highlighted that “this project will have other institutions to increase its services and its expansion to other areas of the province.” “Likewise, we are already working on the implementation of this Port SIVO in other port areas of the region,” Barros explained.

The project launched by Asmepo seeks to provide comprehensive support through information, assessment and social orientation services to the port community and their families, with the aim of addressing their needs and promoting their emotional, social and economic well-being. And it aims to encourage the active participation of the port community in social activities and programs, as well as facilitate their integration into society, promoting equal opportunities and respectful coexistence. A service that will enable people to access, in a timely manner, and free of charge, adequate and sufficient knowledge about the rights, services and benefits that can promote their social inclusion, autonomy and social well-being, guaranteeing truthful, accessible and provided in understandable terms.

Being the first port in Spain to offer this initiative will enhance its integration into the port community and give its professionals greater access to resources and services that will improve their well-being and quality of life. Currently, 52 companies are operating as port service providers and 157 as commercial service providers in the ports of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This Service will be aimed at both male and female employees and the rest of the port community and their families. Elena González De Vera, social worker, who will assume the direction of the port SIVO, has stated that “she takes on this project as a professional challenge, not only because of the responsibility it entails but, above all, because of the social impact that it will have on the groups. most vulnerable linked to the port environment of Tenerife.”

Who is the SIVO intended for?

The project is aimed at people from the community belonging to the maritime-port sector of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, over 18 years of age and their families. These people or families may be in a situation of vulnerability or need, including situations of poverty, unemployment, disability, among others.
