Gil urges a solution to prevent Tenerife II from running out of water again

He Penitentiary Center Tenerife II continues without a solution to prevent a repetition of the water supply problems that occurred last summer, and the mayor of El Rosario, Scholastic Gilseems very upset with this lack of measures. “Two mothers of prisoners who called the Common Deputy have had more force than the mayor of El Rosario saying that the entire prison could be left without water,” He regretted the attention that the supramunicipal authorities have paid to his warnings and complaints.

Gil expressed himself in these terms during the conference Management problems, framed in a cycle about water that develops in the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Tenerife (RSEAPT). As will be remembered, the Rosario councilor had insisted in recent years that this municipality takes care of both the water supply and the sanitation and purification of the prison’s water, as well as the prison’s supply problems. And last summer, in the middle of the forest fire, the prison ran out of water.

“On top of that, I found out that they had said that the Mayor’s Office was to blame!” he exclaimed, before placing responsibility in the field of the State and Penitentiary Institutions. “The mayor of Rosario has fulfilled his obligation, because they did not even tell him the truth about the day they were going to bring water to the prison, and I had to take the water from the town to give it to the prison,” he recalled when doing so. balance of that.

“The people do not understand that: that they came to the State 34 years ago, implanted that monster there and, on top of that, that you take away their water to give it to the prison,” said the leader of the local formation Initiative for El Rosario-Verdes (IR-Verdes). And he continued along the same lines: «But, in the end, the one who has to send the vats to prison is me. And we have everything documented. Now it is OK!”.

Gil pointed out that he is not clear what exactly the root problem is, but he does know that the facility lacks storage capacity. “I don’t know what is happening: if the water is lost, if it is not lost, how are those facilities, why don’t they have an infrastructure that can store water for five days for the inmates…”, he indicated. «What happens is that they cannot come from the metropolis to pass through a town, not stop and tell you that the responsibility is yours or the Cabildo. What we were missing! At least the ministers, when they come, let the papers be read,” he said in reference to the visit and accusation of the Minister for the Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera.

“I am honest”

Gil expressed his discomfort with the complaint, of which he was acquitted, regarding the La Campana treatment plant. «I am not corrupt; “I am an honest person.” The Rosario mayor lamented: «It is very difficult to manage when, without having negative reports, you find yourself investigated. “You cannot denounce a person in charge who is waiting for 25 hours to report to him.”
