COMPLAINTS TENERIFE WORKS | A businessman demands the removal of palm trees from a plot of land he owns in Tenerife

A businessman asks the El Sauzal City Council to remove the twenty palm trees that the City Council planted more than two decades ago. in the more than 300 square meters of “urban land” of his property located on the curve of Avenida Inmaculada de la Concepción, corner with Calle El Calvario.

This is stated by the affected person, while the mayor, Mariano Pérez, maintains that the Administration is waiting for the documentation required to verify the ownership of the land in order to begin a process of expropriation thereof, taking into account that the lot is affected. by municipal planning as a green zone.

The affected person explains that the Sauzalero City Council proceeded to enclosing the land with a one-meter-high wall and creating parking spaces without verifying the ownership of the land or having authorization from the property to undertake any of the actions carried out.

The owner of the land and his lawyer maintain that they held meetings “on numerous occasions” with the technicians and the mayor of El Sauzal, Mariano Pérez, in which they requested the removal of the palm trees. They did not receive a response either to this request or to the five notifications that they claim to have sent to the City Council during the last year.

This silence motivates the owner, “as a measure of protest,” to install “several large signs” in front of the lot questioning why the City Council planted the palm trees on privately owned land, why it has not removed them and Why haven’t you responded? About, The mayor of El Sauzal also points out that the City Council has obtained authorization from those involved to enable the placement of such posters.

The property warns of its willingness to begin a judicial procedure to demand the removal of the palm trees, in case the municipal government of El Sauzal persists in its attitude.

The surface that extends from the curve where the lot with the palm trees is located to the Mirador de Garañona was owned by the Figueroa Barroso family. A year and a half ago, one of the brothers became the owner of a part of these assets, “which he is proceeding to enable and restore.”

The mayor, Mariano Pérez, remembers that the palm trees were planted more than 40 years ago.
