The Valle de Guerra square will once again become this Saturday, starting at 9:00 p.m., the scene of the representation of the sacramental auto of the Livery, with which each year the well-known battle of Lepanto of 1571 is commemorated in which they took part canarian soldiers. The work has the support of the La Laguna City Council.

The Casa de los Capitanes hosted the presentation of this cultural proposal, in which the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, participated; the Councilor for Culture, Dailos González; the president of the Association Friends of the Valle de Guerra Livery, Guillermo López, and the author of the poster for this edition, Rosa Vanesa Rodríguez.

“From the City Council we are clear about our commitment to this event, which has been consolidated over the years and that this edition will have even greater neighborhood participation than in previous editions,” said the mayor, who stressed that it is an act “with enormous cultural and anthropological value.”

Guillermo López stressed that “every year about 250 people get involved in this Livery, of which about a hundred bring this historical scene to life.” Furthermore, he explained that this text, whose original author is Juan Cairós, has been evolving over the years and that, in this edition, it will recall scenes that have not been represented since 2016.

Finally, the author of the poster thanked the Association of Friends of the Livery for its invitation to make this composition, “which is a tribute to the old Livery, which for us is so proud.” She also explained that the basis of the poster is a photograph from 1967, along with a background that as a whole represents the historical value of this battle.

This Saturday, the Valle de Guerra square will have 1,430 chairs and 15 positions adapted for people with reduced mobility. In addition, the performance will be broadcast live on the Facebook profiles of the City Council and the Association of Friends of the Livery.
