Many users have asked why they don’t get trams doubles to avoid crowds on this public transport that thousands of people use to move within the metropolitan area of Tenerife. From the official profile of Tranvía de Tenerife on the Facebook social network they try to explain why it is not a good option.

Firstly, they indicate that “the Tenerife Tram has a limited number of trams, which must cover both line 1 and line 2.”

On the other hand, they point out that “currently, during peak hours, we circulate at maximum capacity, with 19 trams on line 1 and 3 on line 2, 22 trams circulating simultaneously in total. This allows us to offer trams at each stop every 4.5 minutes.”

Likewise, they add that “if we circulated with double trams (as in Carnival) we could have a maximum of 9 double trams (18 paired single trams), being able to circulate with a maximum frequency of one tram at each stop every 10 minutes (as in Carnival). ”.

Therefore, they understand that “if we circulate with double trams, not only would we have one less vehicle on the line, but passengers would have to wait twice as long at the stops, with the consequent additional inconvenience.”

Tenerife Tram has also referred to the use of double trams during the Carnival celebrations. “It allows us, while maintaining the usual frequencies on holidays, to double the capacity offered. That is, by traveling with trams every 10 minutes, offering double the number of seats on board,” they emphasize.
