El Rosario proposes that ranchers graze in interface areas to prevent fires

The City Council of El Rosario has proposed this Thursday that the shepherds of the municipality, in coordination with the departments of Ecological Transition and Primary Sector, can carry out grazing work in areas near the mountains and ravines.

Through this complementary formula to the prevention work carried out by the Environment area of the Council of Tenerife Conservation efforts on the forest would be strengthened and natural firebreaks created by grazing herds would be created.

Likewise, the council points out that it is a measure that helps to encourage the maintenance of the goat and bovine sector.

The mayor, Escolásico Gil, also presents to the Cabildo de Tenerife that the personnel assigned to upcoming island projects employment can intervene in the cleaning of abandoned lots in interface areas where it is not possible to locate their owners or they cannot cope with their conservationsomething that is unviable from an economic point of view for the municipal coffers.

“So far this year alone, more than 25 files have been initiated to order the cleaning of lots and proceed to subsidiary execution if it is not done,” the Rosario president explains in a note.

For this reason, the first mayor signed a new municipal document this Thursday in which he reiterates the conservation and cleaning of plots and lots in El Rosario, with special emphasis on those properties in a poor state of conservation located in the Vista La Huerta, La Montañeta, Las Erillas and Peñafiel streets, close to areas such as El Aceviñalwhich did not burn but remained in danger during much of the last forest fire.
