More than half of the Canarian municipalities are free of coronavirus

Below the threshold of ten are Santa Lucía de Tirajana and Telde, with seven; Los Realejos and Granadilla de Abona, with six; Yaiza, with five; La Orotava, Tías, Icod de Los Vinos, Valverde, Teguise, San Miguel de Abona and La Oliva, with four; Santa Cruz de La Palma and Pájara, with three; Mogán, Tuineje, Santa Brígida and La Guancha, with two; and Santiago del Teide, Agüimes, Arafo, San Sebastián de La Gomera and El Rosario, with one. The numerical values ​​show, therefore, that in the Islands there were 748 active cases up to October 13 –115 less than those reported in the previous 24 hours–.

Patients on the floor

  • The number of people with coronavirus occupying acute beds in hospitals on the Islands decreased by 23 in the course of a day. In total there are 79 people in Covid plants.

According to the Regional Executive Health Council, the region added 68 infections of the pathogen on Thursday and one death associated with its complications. The deceased, a 74-year-old man in Tenerife, suffered from previous illnesses and was admitted to a hospital. In total, 997 people diagnosed with Covid have lost their lives in the autonomous community.

By islands, Tenerife added 23 clinical pictures; Gran Canaria 30; Lanzarote eight; Fuerteventura five; La Palma one and La Gomera, which was free of coronavirus, also scored a case. El Hierro, on the other hand, did not find new detections of the microorganism.

The hospital situation on the ward experienced notable variations. In fact, in the acute beds of the centers, there are now 79 patients with the condition – 23 less than the day before. However, in critical areas, the figure remains at 23. Tenerife continues to be the island that brings together the highest number of Covid-19 patients admitted to hospital. There, 55 people spend the disease in the plant and another 14 in intensive care.

Regarding the epidemiological discharges, the health administration reported that in the last hours 182 patients managed to overcome the disease, so that the total count since the beginning of this health crisis already amounts to 94,159.

The cumulative incidence in the last seven days stands at 16.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants –decreased 0.45 points in 24 hours– and that of the last 14 days is 36.16 cases for the same number of people –1 , 29 points less.

Immunized target population

  • In the Canary Islands, 1,631,628 people have completed the vaccination schedule against the pathogen, which translates into 83.2% of the target population of the autonomous community.

So far, professionals have performed 2,186,702 diagnostic tests in the Archipelago, of which 4,586 were performed on Wednesday –1,613 more than last Tuesday–.

The vaccination teams of the Canary Islands Health Service have already administered 3,136,654 doses of the sera against the coronavirus, which has made it possible to immunize 1,631,628 people, 83.21% of the target population of the Islands. In addition, 1,664,415 inhabitants have accessed at least one puncture of the compounds.

The Government of the Canary Islands updated the health alert levels yesterday after analyzing the epidemiological report that collects the consolidated data as of October 13, which confirms the downward trend in health markers on the island of Fuerteventura, which has decreased from today on level 1 alert for coronavirus. The rest of the islands maintain a low or very low risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and the use of health services by Covid decreases, so that all the territories of the community already have the green traffic light activated.
