The workshops of scientific interest for aronero students are back

The ARN Innova Science and Technology Summer Laboratory develops scientific workshops and educational activities with the aim that students between the ages of 9 and 14 in Arona increase their interest in research and scientific information. Promoted by the City Council and the University of La Laguna39 students from the 4th year of Primary Education to the 2nd year of ESO from the Aronero centers participate.

Under the guidance of young scientists from the University of La Laguna, during the first week they held three scientific workshops aimed at awakening curiosity and interest in science. The importance of water purification and its relevance for human and environmental well-being, the secrets of the universe and the mysteries of the cosmos, and the connection between fine arts and science were some of the contents of these workshops.

The students also received training on science journalism. To do this, they interviewed two ULL researchers and wrote their reports. This experience allowed them to acquire specialized journalistic knowledge and to communicate their findings clearly and concisely.

Another outstanding aspect was the participation of the students in activities on computational thinking, introducing themselves to concepts such as algorithms, programs and coding through manipulative activities. This immersion in computer science and computational logic provided them with fundamental skills and knowledge of today’s digital world.

The students received a diploma, which was delivered by the Councilor for Economic Promotion and Employment of the Town Hall of Arona, Dácil Lion.

Until Friday the 4th, the ARN Innova Science and Technology Summer Laboratory aims to leave a lasting mark on the participants, awakening a passion for science and technology and opening doors to their future.
