According to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET)the heat will give a little respite to Canary Islands this weekend after a week in which the high temperatures have set the weather trend on the islands.

Therefore, the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islandsin application of Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomenathe alert for forest fires will end from 09:00 this Saturday.

The advisory is in effect on the islands of The iron, The Palm, La Gomera and Tenerife; as well as in Gran Canaria from elevation 200 upwards in the north of the island, and from elevation 400 upwards in the west, south and east.

As reported by the regional government, this completion has been adopted as the high temperatures that justified its declaration in recent days have disappeared.

The forecast by islands is as follows:

In the north and west, cloudy intervals, with a predominance of cloudy skies in the early and late hours. In the rest, little cloudy or clear skies. Temperatures unchanged or slightly lowering. Northeast wind, with strong intervals at the beginning, as well as in interior areas. It will tend to subside in the last hours.

In the west, cloudy intervals, with opening of clearings in central hours. In the rest, little cloudy or clear skies. Temperatures unchanged or slightly lowering. Northeast wind with strong intervals. In the south of Jandía it will blow hard, without ruling out occasional very strong gusts, especially at the beginning. It will tend to subside in the last hours.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Puerto del Rosario 21 27

GRAND CANARY

On the northern coasts and midlands, cloudy intervals in general, with a predominance of cloudy skies and a low probability of some light drizzle in the first and last hours, especially in the interior. In the rest, little cloudy or clear skies. Falling temperatures, especially the maximum in interior areas. 30-32 ºC can still be reached locally in the midlands of the west and southeast. North component wind, with strong intervals on summits and west and southeast slopes, where occasional very strong gusts are not ruled out. Breezes on southwest coasts. The wind will tend to subside at the end of the day.

TENERIFE

On the northern coasts and midlands, cloudy intervals in general, with a predominance of cloudy skies in the northeast in the early hours. In the rest, little cloudy or clear skies, with some morning interval on the southern slope. Falling temperatures, which may be notable in the highs of the southern and northeastern midlands. North component wind, with strong intervals in the far west and east slope, and with occasional very strong gusts in the south of the metropolitan area. Breezes on west coasts. The wind will tend to subside in the last hours.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Santa Cruz de Tenerife 22 29

LA GOMERA

On the northern coasts and midlands, cloudy intervals, with a predominance of cloudy skies in the early hours. In the rest, little cloudy or clear skies. Declining temperatures, which cannot be ruled out as being locally notable in the highs of the northern midlands. Northeast wind, with strong intervals and occasionally very strong gusts on peaks and northwest and southeast slopes, especially in the early hours, and prevailing breezes on southwest coasts. The wind will tend to subside in the last hours.

THE PALM

On the coasts and midlands of the northeast, cloudy intervals, with a predominance of slightly cloudy skies in central hours. In the rest, little cloudy or clear skies. Falling temperatures, which may be locally noticeable in high areas. Northeast wind, with strong intervals and a low probability of occasional very strong gusts in the extreme northwest and southeast. Breezes on west coasts. The wind will tend to subside at the end of the day.

FORECAST MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES (°C): Santa Cruz de la Palma 20 25

THE IRON

Predominance of slightly cloudy or clear skies, with cloudy intervals in low-lying northern areas in the early and late hours. Falling temperatures, which may be locally noticeable in midlands and high areas. Moderate to strong northeasterly wind, with a low probability of occasional very strong gusts on the summits and west and east slopes, and a predominance of breezes on the southwest coasts. The wind will tend to subside in the last hours.
