Starting at 9:00 p.m. tonight, the dance of the magicians of Santa Cruz will begin. It will be in the surroundings of La Noria, where all the tables are already reserved, the 712 that have been set up this year, the highest number in recent editions. Before the beginning of this meeting, the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, will attend, at 8:00 p.m., the traditional floral offering that, once again, is made to the Virgin of Candelaria, at the monument to the Patron saint of the Canary Islands.
At the event, which will feature a performance by the Tajaraste folkloric body, the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, as well as the queen of the May 2023 Fiestas, Kimberly Baute Mencara, her court of honor, will also be present; Aarón Rodríguez Ramos and Lía González García, Mago y Maga Infantil, as well as members of the municipal corporation.

After this ceremony the dance of magicians will begin. The entrance to the festival site will be free and can be accessed through any of the 10 control points enabled where the correct clothing and footwear of the traditional Canarian costume will be checked. Starting at 10:00 p.m., a total of six parrandas will sound in Campo Castro: Tonique, Nijota, Farutes del Atlántico, Peña del Lunes, Parranda Medianía and Gualhequeya. In the Plaza de Europa, the usual Taifa Dances will also be held with: Orígenes, Aceviños, Princesa Dácil and Delicias del Teide, who will perform with their respective dance groups. After concluding these performances, around midnight it is expected that, in the Charco de la Casona, a stage located next to the Puente del Cabo, a traditional festival setting will take place in which the Revelation and Sonora Olympia orchestras will participate.

Forecast
The celebration of the dance of wizards in the middle of a bridge suggests that the attendance at this popular act will be massive. Last year, the first after the pandemic, the influx of public rose to 14,000 people, the highest figure in recent years, in which it had always been around 10,000 people. In addition, this year, as the number of tables has increased, almost 60 more than in 2022, it also helps the expectation of influx to be high.

The program of festive events also includes the Exhibition of Traditional Canarian Flowers, Plants and Crafts, which will remain open in the García Sanabria park until Sunday, the 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The regional exhibition will feature musical performances, children’s workshops, spaces dedicated to Canarian crafts and gastronomy, the Book Fair and the usual representations of Gorgorito.

The programming of the different acts of the May 2023 Fiestas can be consulted on the website www.fiestasdesantacruz.com, as well as in the different municipal social profiles.
