The Tenerife photographer Victoria Andreína Navarro Isla has been chosen as the winner of the eleventh edition of the Tenerife Fashion National Photography Contest, with the photograph entitled ‘Dancing Dwarf’. Likewise, the Italian Fabio Di Pietro and Jevgenia Stseberina, from Estonia, obtained the second and third prize with the works ‘El Desafío’ and ‘De la fiesta’. The three finalists received a cash prize of 2,500, 2,000 and 1,500 euros.
With the awards ceremony of this contest, organized to promote creative work linked to the fashion sector, the fourth edition of the Tenerife Volcanic Fashion fair, organized by the Cabildo de Tenerife, was closed, and in which for four days thirty designers and more than 40 multisectoral companies at the Mencey hotel.
The event was attended by the Minister of Employment, Economic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, the director of the Tenerife Island Craft Company, Ricardo Cólogan and the manager of Tenerife Moda, José Sánchez Giusepe.
The objective of this contest, which this year has had Fashion and Traditions as its theme, is to encourage the work and creativity of photography professionals, so that they can find new employment opportunities through fashion. Both the winning photographs and those that were finalists will be posted in the coming days on the Tenerife Moda website www.tenerifemoda.com.
The designated jury was made up of graphic journalist Pablo Afonso Corona; the representatives of the Sectoral Council of Traditional Clothing of Tenerife, Dulce María Rodríguez de la Rosa, and Carlos Daniel González García; and the professor of the Fashion department of the CIFP Las Indias in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and a graduate in fine arts, Francisco Olivas Jiménez.
The Tenerife Volcanic Fashion weekend program combined the exhibition, marketing and sale of brands and designs with other transversal activities aimed at strengthening the fashion industry and creating business synergies. Through the different activities, the participating designers and companies were able to exhibit and publicize their original creations, test buyers and contact professionals from the fashion and beauty sector and the general public.
