SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Canarian Nationalist Party (PNC), Francisco Martín, said this Friday that “it is not good” for the Herreña Independent Association (AHI) to go alone to the next local and regional elections while demanding that the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) to put aside “light nationalism” and insist on seeking more “self-government” oriented policies.

In statements to Europa Press, he has defended that the people from El Hierro seem to be practicing a “strategy” linked to the artimetics of Parliament because they say that “they are not bad” with CC, but he understands that this decision generates “many doubts” before the electorate.

However, he has warned that “what cannot be done is to work towards guaranteeing the position and leaving the interests of the Canary Islands on the back burner”, also stressing that it is a “big mistake” to want to “guarantee the position of certain people”.

Facing the reissue of the electoral alliance with CC, which expires in May, he has said that negotiations are open and he is confident that they will bear “fruits” despite the fact that they are not entirely satisfied with the balance of the agreement.

“We have our position on the Canarian nation and they are not so clear, it is our fight, as we think, to walk more and more to be a self-governing country, a sovereign people, and it is a fight that continues,” he said. indicated.

Along these lines, he has pointed out that sometimes this position “creates discrepancy” with CC but he does not believe that “relations have to be broken.”

Martín has pointed out that it is necessary to “work more” to recover the Canarian essence and “make society aware” that “you have to govern yourself and not blame others”, promoting more government from “inside out”. and not vice versa because many of the changes that affect the archipelago are taken in other instances.

He has also pointed out that the islands are at a “crucial moment” because “overpopulation is clear and evident” and in CC they have to “be aware of it” because there is “overcrowding” and “limits” must be set, for example, through of a possible law of residence or settlement.

Martín has also indicated that his party is going to continue betting on the union of nationalism -although it does not have negotiations with the NC but it does not close doors- given that “the big problem is the division that exists” that “harms everyone”. .
