La Victoria begins to solve its historical deficiencies in sewerage

The Council of Tenerife announced this Tuesday, September 27, 2022 the award of a work of 1.7 million euros for the improvement of the sanitation network of the TF-213 road, in The Victory of Acentejo, which is one of the municipalities in the north of the island with the worst sewage network for managing its wastewater. Currently, sanitation it reaches barely 5% of the populated areas of La Victoria and with this insular investment, one more step is taken in resolving this historical lack.

The reduced extension of the sanitation network in La Victoria, where they live a total of 9,158 neighborscontrasts notably with other towns in the Acentejo region, such as Tacoronte, where they are already close to reaching 90% of its 24,200 inhabitants. With the works of Mesa del Mar and the Prismar urbanization, Tacoronte will exceed that percentage and will only have to connect small isolated groups of houses in areas with steep slopes, the majority in Barranco Las Lajas and Agua García.

These works, which will begin shortly, have a lead time of 18 monthsaccording to the Councilor for Municipal Cooperation and Housing of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Zebenzui Chinea. The Cabildo assumes 90% of the investment, which is 1,698,389 euros, while the City Council contributes the remaining 10%.

The Old Road of La Victoria de Acentejo The day

The councilor points out that this investment will serve to modernize and optimize the canalization and sewage system, but also to renew the pavement, the sidewalks and the gardens of this road known as old highway.

For the mayor of La Victoria de Acentejo, Juan Antonio Garcia Abreu (PSOE)sanitation is one of the major deficits in your town, so these external investments are key to reversing the situation and extending the sewerage network beyond the few streets that currently have it. That is why he considers that “this project is one of the most important investments of this mandate in the municipality. A necessary work for La Victoria, which has had the technical and economic support of the Cabildo, and which will respond to the needs of our neighbors, who demanded an accessible work that also meets basic services.

This intervention will improve sanitation under the ground, but also the entire upper part of the road, which “will have sidewalks on both sides and a modern and attractive design.” It has been ruled out to extend the central boulevard to this area, which was carried out in the first phase of this work. and that, in the mayor’s opinion, “it causes so many problems in terms of the passage of large vehicles such as buses and trucks.”
