Lidl opens another store in Tacoronte after investing 6.5 million euros

Lidl continues to take steps forward to consolidate its presence in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, this time with the inauguration yesterday of its new store at number 4 Yoyo Santana Street, nº 4, in Tacoronte. In its commitment to offering a better service to its customers, the company has replaced its previous establishment in this town to now open a larger, more modern and sustainable one. Lidl has invested 6.5 million euros in the construction and equipment of this new point of salewhose start-up involves the creation of eight new direct jobs for a total workforce of 25 people.

The new store has an installation of 600 square meters of photovoltaic panels

The new store has 1,300 square meters of sales area, where fresh products play a prominent role and are complemented by different regional references, such as fruit and vegetables and dairy products, among others. This new establishment, which will open from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., has a car park with nearly 90 spaces –in which three recharging points for electric vehicles have been set up– and, within the of its commitment to sustainability and the reduction of CO2 emissions to minimize the environmental impact of its business, the property has an installation of nearly 600 square meters of photovoltaic panels, thanks to which it will be able to generate nearly 50% of the total energy consumption of the building.

The commitment to the Canary Islands

With the opening of this new store in Tacoronte and the one inaugurated last week in Telde, Lidl continues to promote its presence in the Canary Islands, where it has been present since 2010 and already has a network of 33 points of sale and a workforce of 1,200 people . With its activity, the chain generates more than 3,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs (0.36% of the total) and an impact on GDP of 145 million euros per year (0.37% of the total), according to data from PwC.

Since its arrival in the archipelago, in 2010, the company promotes and encourages the consumption of regional products thanks to its own label, Compro Canario, with which it identifies the more than 750 Canarian articles that, throughout the year, it offers in their stores.

The Yoyo Santana street establishment will open from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

This boost to the local product is possible thanks to the joint work that Lidl develops with a hundred Canarian suppliers. In the last six years, the company has increased the number of local suppliers by nearly 40%, from whom it buys merchandise worth around 50 million euros per year, the company says.

In addition to its network of stores, Lidl promotes and promotes local products within the Canary Islands through channels such as the weekly brochure, the website www.lidl-canarias.es, the Lidl Plus app and special product promotion campaigns Canary.
