SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Sep. 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved a commission endowed with 198,569 euros to the public company Gesplan for the launch of a new edition of the environmental education program ‘Brotes’, which consists of the revitalization of forestry educational workshops in educational centers on the island to develop during the next school year.
“Contact with forest masses, their care and attention, and knowledge of their own species is an issue that must be included in the educational processes of children”, said Isabel García, Minister of Natural Environment Management and Safety of the Cabildo.
The island official pointed out that this project will stimulate a series of forestry workshops in educational centers as well as excursions to protected natural areas that will complement the first.
With the setting up of these workshops, the aim is “to raise awareness of forest management, the natural environment and the reality of the island’s forests, as well as to promote respect among the island’s students for the environment and explore the variety of resources and services that forests provide,” he says in a note.
