SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 11 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Civil Guard have seized 200 kilograms of cocaine on the ship ‘Nord Mamore’ when it was making a technical stop to refuel in the port of the capital of Tenerife on its route from Brazil to the port of Lisbon.

The intervention has been carried out after one of the anchoring visits carried out by the Fiscal Protection and Borders Section of the Civil Guard of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in conjunction with the Combined Customs Surveillance Unit of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, action carried out to control the cargo of ships.

This anchoring visit was made in the early morning of August 5, which was anchored in zone number 2 of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to refuel, the cargo being declared corn and its destination the port of Lisbon, as reported by the Civil Guard and the Tax Agency in a press release.

However, during the inspection of the cargo and the rest of the common areas of the ship, they detected up to a total of eight bales. Specifically, the finding occurred during the review of a cooling water intake nozzle for the ship’s machinery, carried out from outside the hull by personnel from the Civil Guard’s underwater activities team (GEAS).

These bundles were tied inside the nozzle and to each other when they were located by the divers. Later, after analyzing them, it turned out that the presence of narcotic substances, specifically cocaine, was detected inside, throwing a weight of 200 kilograms once the content of the packages containing the bales was weighed.
