The advance of the fire in Tenerife forces the evacuation of fifty homes

The advance of the fire in Tenerife forces the eviction of fifty homes in the municipality of Los Realejos to begin this Saturday noon. According to the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands, A preventive evacuation is being carried out in the Las Llanadas area, from the Chanajiga recreational area to the upper area of Las Llanadas -for the moment it does not affect the population center- and the Palo Blanco ravine, in the municipality of Los Realejos.

The Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez, reported this morning at a press conference that wind changes during the night had made extinction tasks difficult and that the area had increased to 2,000 hectares, with an approximate perimeter of 20 kilometers. The fire has not entered the Valle de La Orotava, but it has in the western area of Icod de los Vinos, so there are already four municipalities affected by the forest fire in Tenerife, along with Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha.

Pérez also stated that during the day the ground and air operation would be reinforced over the area, with 170 troops and 12 aerial means, trusting that the haze will not hinder their exit, in addition to incorporating the urban firefighters, from the Tenerife Consortium, into the device. , in populated nuclei preventively.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, pointed out that the situation worsened during the night with high-altitude flames -they reached 60 meters in height-, which made it necessary to stop some planned actions since the security of the interveners is a priority.

On the evolution of the fire during the day yesterday, the head of the Civil Protection service, Montserrat Román, explained that the fire continued to progress at ground level and its perimeter had grown both on the front and on both flanks. Last night the fire did not reach the Valley of La Orotava, although in the morning the flames exceeded the height of Tigaiga and were visible from Los Realejos. The progress is weak, but there are many ravines with vegetation.
