Among the specialists who will give the keynote speeches is Ramon Casillas Ruiz, Professor of Petrology and Geochemistry at the Department of Animal Biology, Edaphology and Geology at the University of La Laguna. Casillas, representative of the ULL in the scientific committee of the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Attention due to volcanic risk in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Pevolca) will address the geological evolution of the insular building of La Palma as the context in which the eruption took place and will tell the chronological account of this last eruptive phenomenon in the Canary Islands.

Another important aspect addressed by the course is the analysis of the different types of volcanic activity recorded during the eruption and its contextualization within the framework of the historical eruptions that occurred on the island.
