It is the second concentration residents of La Ramblain San Juan de la Rambla, perform in front of the doors of an institution to make their demand heard: a safe entry and exit to the neighborhood from the TF-5.
First they did it in front of the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands and yesterday, between whistles, chants and banners in which they stated their demands, around thirty people, including the mayor, Ezequiel Domínguez, gathered during a hour in front of Council of Tenerife.
On this occasion, they were luckier because a representation of the Platform for Everyone on La Rambla was received by its president, Pedro Martín, who was transferred the two provisional alternatives to improve security from the TF-5 to the neighborhood, until it is built. the lower step, a definitive solution that is already under way, but will take more time.
Both were drawn up by two road engineers “friends” of the Platform to overcome the lack of visibility that the island technicians argued for not approving the turn from La Rambla to Santa Cruz. One of them consists of widening the road of the TF-5 that allows the security barrier of the embankment located in the curve of the Ruiz ravine to be set back, and the other, in moving the crossing point of the intersection towards the San Juan side of the Rambla in order to reduce the widening as much as possible.
Pedro Martín undertook to give them an answer in the first fortnight of May. “We are going to study them with the technicians and I hope in the first fortnight of May to have a meeting with the mayor and the neighbors again and to be able to confirm whether or not the solution is viable. And, if it is, it will have the necessary financing to be able to undertake it by the Cabildo de Tenerife, ”certified the island official.
Works that “harm”
Those affected also took the opportunity to comment that the works that the Cabildo was carrying out “more than favoring them, they harm them.” Specifically, they referred to the bus stops located in a place that is difficult to access, where users of public transport have to cross the road to use it, with the danger that this entails.
The spokeswoman for the aforementioned neighborhood platform, Adela Abreu, underlined the “good disposition” on the part of Pedro Martín and, therefore, until they have a response from him, those affected have decided to suspend any type of protest. However, he clarified that, if they do not have a solution, they will demonstrate again in a caravan of vehicles with banners, as they have done since the end of January, given that they do not want to wait for the final project, because the danger has increased in this point in recent years, due to increased traffic.
