Hemodonation calls for the donation of blood of all blood groups

The Canary Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, will facilitate the donation of blood to the population in all the islands next week, enabling temporary blood collection rooms in different municipalities of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Gomera that will be added to the fixed points distributed throughout the Archipelago.

In addition, next Monday the blood donation campaign will begin at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and, later, at the University of La Laguna.

The ICHH reminds the elderly population of the importance of donating blood every 3 or 4 months to maintain the reserves of the Canary Transfusion Center, which requires about 300 daily donations.

At this time, donations of all blood groups are needed, especially A+ and O+, the most frequent among the population of the Canary Islands and, therefore, the most demanded by hospitals.

Requirements

To donate blood you can go directly or request an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the cover of the web effectdonation.com. Before going to donate, it is advisable to review the information published on this website in the Information and Protocol tabs, to familiarize yourself with the established security measures and answer the self-assessment test to check if you can donate blood.

The ICHH also reminds that people vaccinated against COVID-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.

Where to donate blood in Tenerife

The municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna hosts a new donation point from Monday to Wednesday at the Colegio Mayor San Agustín, entering through Calle Viana, number 54. The hours will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. :45 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 8:45 to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:45 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:45 to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:45 to 8:30 p.m.

In La Matanza de Acentejo, a donation room will be set up starting Thursday at the Farmer, Wine and Craft Market located on the General del Norte highway, TF-127 number 289 B. The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. :45 and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., except on Friday, which ends half an hour earlier, at 8:15 p.m.

In the north of the island, the fixed donation point located on the first floor of the El Trompo Shopping Center (Sector 10, Las Arenas, exit 36 ​​of the TF-5), in La Orotava, is still active. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In addition, tomorrow, Saturday, March 5, it will open exceptionally from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Finally, on Monday a new temporary extraction point will be installed in Arona. It will be at the Cabo Blanco Senior Center, on Vista Martín Street, number 8, and will be operational from Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

As for the fixed points, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can donate at the ICHH headquarters on calle Méndez Núñez, number 14, from Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. hours. Tomorrow, Saturday, March 5, it will also be open from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In the southern region, the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, will be operational from Monday to Thursday from 1:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., as well as tomorrow Saturday, March 5, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Both points have a ford reserved for donors.

And as far as the fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network are concerned, at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands you can donate without an appointment from Sunday to Friday and holidays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. As for the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, you can donate without an appointment from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It has a ford reserved for donors.

Where to donate blood in Gran Canaria

In the capital of Gran Canaria, the donation room set up in a local Las Arenas Shopping Center is maintained for another week, next to store B2 (on the side of the center’s Information post), which will be operational from Monday to Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In addition, exceptionally, this Saturday, March 5, it will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

On the other hand, on Monday the second campaign of this university course will begin at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It will be from Monday, March 7 to Thursday, March 10 at the San Cristóbal Campus, in the classrooms of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The schedule will be Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

In addition, from Tuesday the 8th to Thursday the 10th, extractions will be carried out at the Obelisk Campus, in the gym of the Educational Sciences Building. The schedule will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 2:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In the municipality of Telde, the extraction room set up in the Alcampo Shopping Center (next to the State Lotteries and Gambling administration), will be operational on Monday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. This point will also open tomorrow, March 5, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

In Santa Lucía de Tirajana, the donation room installed in the premises in front of the Parque de la Libertad (under the Justice of the Peace) in the Parque Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente will be operational on Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Finally, within the framework of the campaigns that the ICHH organizes jointly with the Canary Islands Air Command, a blood donation team will be operational next week at the Gando Air Base to facilitate blood donation to members of the units deployed there. It will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

As for the fixed blood collection points, the ICHH makes its headquarters available to the population at Calle Alfonso XIII number 4, in the capital of Gran Canaria, from Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. 45 to 9:15 p.m. This point has a ford reserved for donors.

You can also go to other fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network such as the Maternal-Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria, where you can donate from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays (they have a parking space for donors in all cases).

Where to donate blood in Fuerteventura

Next week the mobile blood donation unit will return to the municipality of La Oliva, located on Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen (in front of the Sabina perfumery) in Corralejo. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

You can also donate throughout the year at the General Hospital of Fuerteventura from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., by calling 928 546 684 to make an appointment.

Where to donate blood in Lanzarote

The ICHH team will visit the municipality of Yaiza next week, where it will set up a new temporary donation point in the Rubicón Shopping Center in Playa Blanca, in store 12B (next to HiperDino). The schedule will be Monday from 4:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 4:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

In addition, the donation point of the Canarian Transfusion Network is maintained at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To donate it is necessary to make an appointment in advance at the number 928 59 55 72 option 3.

Where to donate blood in La Gomera

The mobile blood donation unit will be operational next week on Avenida de los Descubridores (next to the Ramón kiosk) in San Sebastián de La Gomera. Hours will be Monday through Thursday from 3:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In addition, the fixed point of the Canarian Transfusion Network on the Island is enabled at the Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe and attends to the donor population from Monday to Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (except holidays), by telephone appointment by calling 922 140 200 or 922 140 213.

Where to donate blood in La Palma

The University Hospital of La Palma has a fixed collection point where you can donate from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., by appointment by calling 922 185 312 or 922 185 320.

Where to donate blood in El Hierro

The Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de los Reyes has a fixed extraction point that operates on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (except holidays), by appointment by calling 690 886 059 or 922 553 500.
