The Canary Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, will facilitate the donation of blood to the population in all the islands next week, enabling temporary blood collection rooms in different municipalities of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Gomera that will be added to the fixed points distributed throughout the Archipelago.
In addition, next Monday the blood donation campaign will begin at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and, later, at the University of La Laguna.
The ICHH reminds the elderly population of the importance of donating blood every 3 or 4 months to maintain the reserves of the Canary Transfusion Center, which requires about 300 daily donations.
At this time, donations of all blood groups are needed, especially A+ and O+, the most frequent among the population of the Canary Islands and, therefore, the most demanded by hospitals.
Requirements
To donate blood you can go directly or request an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the form published on the cover of the web effectdonation.com. Before going to donate, it is advisable to review the information published on this website in the Information and Protocol tabs, to familiarize yourself with the established security measures and answer the self-assessment test to check if you can donate blood.
The ICHH also reminds that people vaccinated against COVID-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.
Where to donate blood in Tenerife
The municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna hosts a new donation point from Monday to Wednesday at the Colegio Mayor San Agustín, entering through Calle Viana, number 54. The hours will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. :45 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 8:45 to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:45 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:45 to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:45 to 8:30 p.m.
In La Matanza de Acentejo, a donation room will be set up starting Thursday at the Farmer, Wine and Craft Market located on the General del Norte highway, TF-127 number 289 B. The hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. :45 and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., except on Friday, which ends half an hour earlier, at 8:15 p.m.

As for the fixed points, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can donate at the ICHH headquarters on calle Méndez Núñez, number 14, from Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. hours. Tomorrow, Saturday, March 5, it will also be open from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Where to donate blood in Gran Canaria
