SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 4 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife will test a new electric bus from next Tuesday until February 20 at Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa).

The vehicle, provided by the manufacturer IVECO, will provide service on different lines in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz and Icod de los Vinos.

The Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, explains in a note that these tests are carried out with passengers and will determine if the model meets the demands of the service given the island’s orography, an initiative that is part of the Cabildo’s strategy to promote a more sustainable and environmentally friendly public transport.

For his part, the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, points out that this vehicle has the smallest width on the market, making it ideal for driving on streets that are not too wide and making sharp turns.

“The lines where it is going to be tested run on narrow tracks, so we will know if this bus fits our needs,” he says.

Specifically, the electric bus will provide service on the urban lines of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 903 (North Pier-Las Moraditas), 921 (Circunvalación) and 923 (North Pier-Moraditas lower part).

The La Laguna lines that will be tested will be 206 (La Laguna Interchange – La Verdellada – San Benito – Interchange), 224 (La Laguna Interchange – Punta del Hidalgo), 253 (La Laguna Interchange – Garimba) and 260 (Interchange of La Laguna – Llano del Moro).

Likewise, Titsa will also test the new vehicle on routes 357 (Icod Station-Hospital del Norte), 372 (San Antonio-La Piedad), 381 (Avenida de Colón-Punta Brava), 382 (Avenida de Colón-Barrio Saint Antony).

During the test, Titsa will analyze the real energy consumption in the service, taking into account the insular orography.

Likewise, the company will test the autonomy without recharging, as well as the charging times depending on the amperage used.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ELECTRIC BUS

The electric vehicle used for the tests is the Eway model from the manufacturer Heuliz-IVECO of urban type with integral low floor, 10.7 meters long and 2.33 meters wide, which can move 17 seated passengers, 55 standing and It has two spaces for wheelchairs.

The electric bus has ZEN lithium batteries of 350 kilowatt hours and a recharging time of 4 hours.
