SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The deadline to apply for the scholarships that the Cabildo de Tenerife allocates to students with special educational needs, corresponding to the 2021-2022 school period, will continue to be open until January 31st.

The insular counselor for Education, Concepción Rivero, explained that the insular item amounts to a total of 1,132,369 euros and adds that these grants are aimed at students enrolled in specific centers, in special education units of ordinary centers (supported entirely with funds public), or other ordinary or specific centers.

“The Cabildo wants to help families who are currently having difficulties and above all to support those who have children in school with special educational needs,” he said.

The amount of the scholarships is calculated based on the degree of disability of the applicant, and with them it is intended to compensate the additional expenses of the beneficiaries and their families generated by the accredited disability situation.

The applicant must be currently studying one of the following educational levels: infant education, primary education, compulsory secondary education, baccalaureate, intermediate and higher level training cycles, programs aimed at obtaining an initial professional qualification, basic professional training or programs training for the transition to adult life. Applicants must also be 2 years of age, although exceptionally, aid may be granted to children under two years of age provided that the need for earlier schooling is certified due to the characteristics of the disability.

The scholarship will be compatible and complementary to that granted by other institutions, and the application and documentation may be submitted electronically or on paper by registration. All the information and documentation related to this line of scholarships (regulatory bases, call for applications, standardized application forms and other statements) is available at the Cabildo’s electronic headquarters (https: //www..sede.tenerife.es).
