Young Passport bolsters its youth agenda with films, routes, and a playful caravan across various neighbourhoods.

The Town Hall of La Laguna continues with its Pasaporte Joven programme this summer, offering new free activities in various areas of the municipality, following the successful participation of last weekend.

The Pasaporte Joven programme, initiated by the Education and Youth Department of La Laguna Town Hall, continues its summer journey through various areas of the municipality with new free activities aimed at young people and families. Following the success of the activities held last weekend, the initiative is entering the second half of July with a schedule that includes outdoor cinema, family routes, youth meetings, and stops by the recreational caravan ‘La Joveneta’.

The Councillor for Education and Youth, Sergio Eiroa, highlighted the strong participation recorded thus far. “The Pasaporte Joven is proving that the youth of La Laguna want to take an active part in the cultural and social life of the municipality. The programme has been very well received, and we will continue to work to offer local, creative, and meaningful initiatives that bring activities to all the neighbourhoods and towns,” he assured.

Over the next 15 days, the programme has more events planned in different locations. On Wednesday, 17 July, there will be another outdoor summer cinema session, with screenings open to the public. On Friday, 19 and 26 July, La Joveneta, a caravan equipped with a library, games, video consoles, and youth activities, will visit La Piterita and Valle Jiménez, respectively.

On Saturday, 20 July, the CuenteAndo activity will take place, a family storytelling route through the San Diego neighbourhood inviting participants to enjoy the surroundings through shared stories. Additionally, on 26, 27, and 29 July, a new edition of Territorio Joven will occur, featuring meetings for the youth of the municipality combining workshops, games, sports, and spaces for social interaction.

Eiroa emphasised the success of the activities held over the last weekend, particularly the traditional ceramics workshop held in Valle de Guerra with the participation of craftsman Nesti and organised at the request of the Tarajal Youth Association. “It was a very enriching experience, where young people could learn about the value of local craftsmanship, acquire traditional techniques, and create their own pieces. We also had a salsa route in Plaza del Tranvía, providing an afternoon of music, dance, and outdoor gathering. Both initiatives were very well received and confirm that this is the direction we should continue,” he stated.

The Pasaporte Joven programme offers activities throughout the summer in more than 20 locations across the municipality and includes the use of a physical or digital passport that is stamped as participants engage in different activities. Upon completing several stages, young people gain entry into a draw for various prizes.
