SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, through the Mobility Department and in coordination with the Local Police, has devised a special traffic and security plan by implementing a bus lane exclusively for public transport. This will be situated on Avenida Tres de Mayo on Friday, 12 June, to facilitate the visit of Pope Leo XIV.
Promotion of Public Transport
In this context, the council has encouraged the use of public transport to attend the scheduled events with the Pope in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, ensuring easy access for buses, according to a press release from the council.
Traffic Management
The City Council clarified that the initiative aims to ease traffic in the city on a day that will be significantly affected by restricted access from the TF-4 motorway. Restrictions will commence at 03:00, allowing only authorised vehicles, and from 09:00, access will be limited to vehicles with escorts, alongside other restrictions on different roads.
Exclusive Bus Lane Details
The exclusive bus lane will be located in the right lane of Avenida Tres de Mayo, in the upward direction, stretching from Glorieta Manuel Bethencourt del Río to Turboglorieta del Rotary Club, which connects with exits to the TF-1 and TF-5 motorways.
Additionally, a similar lane is planned on Calle Fomento, adjacent to the Interchange.
Parking Arrangements
For discretionary transport, various parking areas will be designated in proximity to the port, specifically in the car parks at Parque Marítimo and Palmetum, as well as on Calle Víctor Zurita Soler.
