The main festival of the locality, which takes place around the 14th of July, the day commemorating the death of the best of all Montillanos, features a wide range of sporting and cultural activities. Many of these are held in the Real de la Feria, located next to the Municipal Sports Centre. Furthermore, the festive atmosphere experienced in the fair ground can also be enjoyed in the main streets of the urban centre, thanks to the initiative proposed by the ‘El Centro’ Neighbourhood Association in 1996.
Since then, numerous groups and brotherhoods set up booths in venues where local gastronomy, folklore, and wine come together. At night, thousands of locals, many of whom have come from various towns in the region, gather in the fairground, accessed through the typical entrance that represents the now-missing arches of the Puerta de Aguilar.
