SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 20. (Press Europa) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has commenced the refurbishment works on the TF-28 as it traverses the Mirador de la Sentinela, located in the municipality of Arona, with an investment of €1.6 million and a project duration of five months.

The project has been awarded to the construction firm Construcciones Darias, as indicated by the corporation in a statement.

These efforts concentrate on resurfacing and enhancing the road surface of the aforementioned route between Camella and the San Lorenzo Valley, involving interventions on the walkways and drains.

The undertaking, they assure, has been coordinated with the City Council, which has expressed its concern regarding events hosted along this route, including rallies and pilgrimages.

“We will persist in our efforts to ensure the completion of the works by mid-August,” stated the road advisor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Dámaso Arteaga.

The first deputy mayor of Arona, Clara María Pérez, extended her gratitude to the Cabildo for undertaking these “very important” works that the local residents have long advocated.

This intervention complements the rehabilitation and enhancement plan aimed at improving mobility across the insular road network.

Other projects

In this regard, the council highlights that a total of 38 projects have been tendered for the enhancement of safety measures and the rehabilitation of the surface on the island’s roadways.

The initiatives encompass road resurfacing, drainage improvements, signage upgrades, illumination, and road safety enhancements.

Furthermore, the projects include stabilisation works for slopes and embankments on various roads of significance to the island.

The total value of these contracts exceeds €700,000. Consequently, the rehabilitation project will prioritise renewing vital signs, such as crossings, lane markings, direction arrows, and pedestrian crossing indicators, which currently display excessive wear.

These signs are crucial for directing and alerting drivers, particularly at night, when reduced visibility may escalate the risk of accidents.

Among the initiatives, the rehabilitation also highlights efforts on the TF-1 motorway, specifically within the stretch between Arico, Fasnia, and Güímar, with a budget of €30 million covering approximately 24 kilometres.

These enhancements include road surface rehabilitation, the creation of sound barriers along the edges, repainting of signage, and the installation of safety barriers, along a route frequented by over 50,000 vehicles daily.
