The Ministry of Education, Professional Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Canary Islands Government will announce 1,362 positions for entry and access to non-university teaching roles, with selection processes scheduled for June 2025 and 2026.
This Monday, the announcement for this year will appear in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, meaning that the submission window for applications will run from April 22 to May 20, inclusive, and from November 24 to December 22 for the specialities taking place in 2026.
“It is important to highlight a novel element in this announcement, the introduction of a mandatory presentation event where applicants must submit their teaching programme,” explained Mónica Ramírez Barbosa, the general director of staff and teacher training, in a statement.
This presentation will allow us to gather accurate information on the number of participants and those proceeding to the second round, facilitating the organisation of individual assessments and ensuring adherence to the formal criteria set out in this document,” said Ramírez.
This announcement aligns with the public employment offerings for 2022 and 2023, comprising a total of 1,127 positions, of which 330 are allocated to teachers, with the following specialities: Primary Education and Therapeutic Pedagogy (100 positions each), Physical Education (55), Hearing and Language (30), English (25), and French (20).

Significant Changes
Among the key changes introduced, applicants are required to attend a presentation event and submit the teaching programme that they will present during the second assessment of the selection process.
This event will also enable the panels to communicate the assessment criteria and the regulations that will govern the tests.
The date of this event will be disclosed by a resolution from the General Directorate of Personnel and Teacher Training at least twenty days prior.
Additionally, the procedure allows applicants unable to attend the first assessment due to maternity leave, justified medical reasons, or total incapacity, to take part in a second assessment that will occur no later than seven working days after the originally scheduled date.
Another modification to the process permits the same individual to register for up to two specialities within each teaching category.
Should they choose specialities from different sectors, their assessments will be scheduled to avoid any overlap, thus allowing participation in both.
It is also stated that those already on the reserve lists are not compelled to present themselves again unless they wish to pursue a new speciality in which they do not currently feature.
Furthermore, this announcement reserves a total of 105 positions for internal promotions from subgroup A2 to A1 and an additional two positions for lateral moves within subgroup A1 in the Spanish for Foreigners speciality of the official language schools, a category that has not been called since 2008.
