“The encounter between a waiter on a private yacht and a secretive guest onboard leads to an entanglement with a criminal.” This is the summary of Day Drinker, the latest film featuring the Oscar-winning Johnny Depp, currently being filmed in Tenerife. Furthermore, the producer Lionsgate has released the first official image from the film.
The image showcases Depp in character, holding a glass. The photograph was captured on the second floor of the Tenerife Auditorium, where filming commenced recently after briefly being at Las Raíces. Car chases were recorded in various locations within that area, as has been reported.

The filming shifted to the Auditorium of Tenerife on Monday, where significant vehicle movement and security personnel provided initial indications that this production would also utilise the remarkable cultural building designed by Calatrava.
This Tuesday, amidst this considerable setup, glimpses of the American actor – renowned for his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series – could be discerned during a particular scene, dressed in a white suit this time.
The cast expanded
Additional cast members have been revealed, many of whom are Spanish. Besides the esteemed Penelope Cruz, whose involvement was already confirmed, the young talents Aaron Piper and Manu Ríos have joined the filming team. The director Marc Webb, known for this thriller, also includes Juan Diego Botto and Anika Boyle.
Other filming locations
Rumour has it, according to certain media sources, that specific urban settings on the island – where filming is slated to continue until the month’s end – have been modified to depict a supposed Swiss landscape. However, the story will also unfold in sections of France, as well as other locales in Spain and Portugal.
A familiar backdrop
This isn’t the first time a blockbuster has chosen the auditorium as a filming location. For instance, Netflix filmed part of its 2019 science fiction production The One there. Additionally, the series Foundation produced by Apple TV was also shot in this local cultural venue.
