The Government Coalition of Puerto de la Cruz (PP-ACP-CC) is undertaking necessary corrective measures to prevent the pollution of the municipality’s coastline. As highlighted, the administrative processes are currently being concluded to engage the surplus disconnection works for wastewater. This will involve the drainage systems throughout the entire town.
Moreover, this initiative will facilitate the development of a new sewage network and immediate connections to the existing system in the Punta Brava neighbourhood. It is anticipated that these will soon receive approval and be subjected to an emergency tender process.
In tandem with the execution of these initiatives, a preparatory action for the new public supply and sanitation service concession has been finalised. A proposal for the review of the rates concerning the new contract is being presented to the local Governing Board today, with plans to commence the tender in this first semester.
This new concession will cover the financing and implementation of the legalisation of drainage systems associated with the municipality’s spillways, as well as the establishment of a new sewage network in Punta Brava, thereby resolving an issue that has persisted for around 40 years.
The local council is working on the subsequent phase of the file to present hydrological planning at the next plenary session. This will involve creating a fiscal investment plan aimed at defining the local hydraulic policy for the coming years.
