Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 24 Jan (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife will host the meeting of the Association of Consortiums and Fire Services of Spain (Conbé) this June, an event that will bring together the 25 entities involved, which provide services to 14.8 million individuals across the national territory.
Iván Martín, the Insular Director of Security and Emergencies and president of the Prevention Consortium, Fire Extinction and Rescue of the Island of Tenerife, recently attended the XX Conbé Assembly in Córdoba, where it was declared that Tenerife will be the venue for this gathering.
According to Blanca Pérez, the Minister of Natural Medium, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, “hosting this meeting in Tenerife offers a chance to enhance collaboration among emergency services entities, as they will present strategies for action and coordination, advancements in innovation, and continuous training techniques.”
During the event, methods will be shared for improving safety and efficiency in emergency responses throughout the country, with a particular focus on the island.
Iván Martín emphasises that these meetings “facilitate the establishment of synergies and coordinated actions that help to professionalise the work of the teams, concentrating on the efficiency of interventions.”
In essence, “this allows for the exchange of experiences, concerns, and suggestions that enable ongoing training, service quality enhancement, innovation, and improvement of working conditions for each entity.”
Conbé comprises a total of 25 consortiums from autonomous provinces and communities, representing 50% of the national territory, which equates to 3,097 municipalities—38% of the overall total—and its 14.8 million residents across Spain.
Additionally, there are 247 fire stations staffed by 7,300 professionals, who respond to an average of over 80,000 emergency calls each year.
The Canary Islands’ presence in the association includes the services from the Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife consortiums.
