SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to host the inaugural Canary Islands Regional Street Commerce Forum on May 13. This event aims to foster dialogue among the parties involved and to establish a foundational document from which each municipality, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands, can develop a framework for an ordinance regulating this activity.

The gathering will include the participation of various public administrations, State Security Forces, street commerce associations, consumers, and other professional organisations impacted by the growth of this activity, as stated by the Tenerife Cabildo.

“Our goal is to transform this forum into a venue for discussion and collaboration among all stakeholders in the activity, enabling us to define shared objectives and reach agreements,” stated Krysten Martín, the Minister of Commerce and Business Support for the Tenerife Council.

He further added that the aim is “to create a foundational document that allows each municipality, along with the Government of the Canary Islands, to establish a framework for an ordinance aimed at regulating street commerce.”

Through this initiative, the counselor emphasises the importance of collaborating closely with municipalities on matters that impact the island area, contributing to territorial cohesion in crucial aspects such as trade, “a sector of vital importance” for the island’s economic fabric.

At the I Canary Islands Regional Street Commerce Forum, participants will have the chance to attend presentations from experts covering significant topics relevant to the sector. These include the legal framework for street commerce, quality control, marketing and brand development, effective practices in municipal regulation of street commerce, and a roundtable discussion featuring representatives from various organisations and professionals in the field.
