SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, confirmed this Wednesday that the completion of the Padre Anchieta pedestrian circuit, located in the municipality of La Laguna, will take place throughout February. This will involve the installation of the final two principal modules, followed by the planned civil works in the vicinity, which are anticipated to be finalised between April and May.

At a press briefing regarding government council agreements, the president of the island authority also emphasised that these works will coincide with the upcoming renovation of the La Laguna Interchange, which has seen an allocation of 8 million euros, and comprises two direct access ramps from the station and the Padre Anchieta pedestrian ring itself.

“This represents a vital advancement, in an infrastructure that is already iconic for La Laguna and Tenerife and serves a strategic role in alleviating congestion at a roundabout that accommodates 50,000 vehicles daily. It will benefit 20,000 pedestrians every day and will considerably enhance the fluidity of vehicle traffic on the TF-5,” Dávila further stated in a press release.

FEATURES OF THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY

The construction of the Padre Anchieta pedestrian circuit encompasses 11 metal modules, each weighing 40 tons (a total of 1,500 tons), and 3 connecting ramps (north, centre, and south), representing an investment of 8.8 million euros.

The project, undertaken by the firm Obras Huarte Lain SA, involves the assembly of the 4 modules that comprise the 125m long and 1.85m wide north ramp. This ramp is supported by 7 square-section metal piles, which have already been installed.

It is an infrastructure with a design that was honoured with the 2019 National Innovation and Design Awards, presented by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of Spain.
