Authorities from the Civil Guard have detained in the town of La Orotava, located in Tenerife, a 67-year-old German national who was being pursued by the legal system in Germany. He was subject to a valid European Arrest Warrant due to an ongoing fraud offence committed in Germany between 2018 and 2020.
The offence pertains to fictitious investments and returns that he had promised to his more than six victims, as detailed by the Civil Guard on Wednesday.
The apprehension occurred on a public thoroughfare following discreet monitoring by the agents, leading to the positive identification of the German fugitive with the said international warrant pending.
The individual in custody, along with the legal procedures undertaken, has been handed over to Court of Instruction No. 5 in La Orotava, responsible for liaising with the National Court for his extradition to the relevant judicial entity.
