On January 20, Adeje hosts one of the most traditional festivities in Tenerife, San Sebastián, a celebration that has its origins in the 18th century and occurs at a place of worship established before the conquest: the immersion of horses (over one hundred, in this instance) in the sea of Adeje. This unique event attracted thousands of attendees who gathered in La Caleta to experience both the religious ceremony and the animal blessing that followed the procession along La Enramada beach.
