SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
National Police officers have apprehended four individuals in Arona for their suspected involvement in an offence against industrial property.
As part of the operation, around 200 luxury timepieces, approximately 900 leather items such as bags and belts, 21,500 toys and figurines, 1,300 keyrings, 259,000 playing cards, and 2,886 decks of counterfeit brands have been confiscated, bringing the estimated market value of the goods to over 1,850,000 euros.
The inquiry commenced following a report from several representatives of various luxury brands, leather goods, and toy manufacturers, who alerted authorities to the potential sale of counterfeit products across different retail outlets in southern Tenerife, according to a statement from the National Police.
Officers specialising in such crimes initiated the necessary investigations, which led to the identification of four shops where the counterfeit merchandise was being sold. They arrested the operators and uncovered a sales point within one of the premises for the assembly and production of counterfeit high-end watches, which was ultimately dismantled.
