SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife, via the Insular Crafts Company, has commenced the application period for the ‘XIV Edition of the Tenerife Fashion 2025 International Young Designers Contest’. This competition involves the distribution of three monetary awards aimed at fostering new talents in textile design.
Efraín Medina, the Minister of Employment and Education, states in a release that “the purpose of this competition, which retains its global nature, is to assist emerging designers aiming to kickstart their professional journey in fashion creation, while promoting the textile sector as a source of employment and entrepreneurship among the youth.”
Following the determination of the finalist collections, the envelopes will be unsealed to reveal the identity of the participants and to ensure all eligibility criteria have been met.
The selected jury will subsequently choose a total of seven finalists, with two of them required to be residents of Tenerife.
The new designers selected for the final will showcase their collections in a fashion show at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Fairgrounds, scheduled for June 2024, where the winners will be announced.
COMPETITION REGULATIONS
In the ‘XIV Edition of the Tenerife Moda 2025 International Young Designers Contest’, participants may enter either as individuals or as a collective under a shared brand, regardless of their nationality or country of residence, provided they are over 18 and under 40 years of age as of December 31, 2025, according to the competition regulations that have been publicized.
Those wishing to take part in this edition have until March 14, 2025, to submit their applications, which must be delivered either in person or by registered mail to the Insular Crafts Company.
The seven finalists will receive up to 1,500 euros to help fund the creation of ten models as part of their submission (including garments, fabrics, and accessories).
Additionally, designers from outside the area will be provided with assistance to cover travel expenses – this includes transportation of their collections – and accommodation on the island, enabling them to attend the fashion show featuring the finalist collections and the awards ceremony.
At the final gala, the jury will award two winners a cash prize of 5,000 and 3,000 euros, according to their ranking, and an additional prize of 2,000 euros will be given for the most marketable collection, which may align with the first or second prize in the contest.
In the previous edition, the top prize was awarded to designer David Pérez from Guadalajara (David Moos).
Diego Barroso (Filst) from La Gomera secured the second prize, while Alejandro Niño from Colombia won the accolade for the most commercial collection.
