CANDELARIA (TENERIFE), 10 (EUROPA PRESS)
On Monday, the Local Police of Candelaria discovered two underage individuals on public streets in Igueste de Candelaria, found in a vulnerable state.
The operation was initiated after multiple calls from residents who reported a child alone and unclothed within a poorly parked vehicle, alongside another in a similar condition sitting on a wall, posing a risk of falling.
Officers arrived at the location and verified the minors’ state of neglect, who were only in the company of witnesses who had raised the alarm.
Following a third call from the neighbourhood, the children’s mother was located, allegedly under the influence of a harmful substance and displaying aggressive behaviour towards the officers.
In her attempt to flee, the woman became wedged between two walls, necessitating the involvement of health and fire services to extricate her, assess her condition, and subsequently transport her to the hospital, as confirmed by the City Council in an official statement.
The minors were taken to a childcare facility where they are now under the care of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
Investigations are ongoing into the alleged offences of child abandonment (article 229 of the Penal Code) and assaults on law enforcement personnel (article 550 of the Penal Code).
Thus, the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office has been apprised of the alleged abandonment and vulnerability of the minors, aimed at protecting their physical well-being, and the duty judge at the Judicial District of Güímar has also been informed of the situation.
