SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 9 December (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Monday, the Government Council of the Canary Islands approved the designation of Gestur Canarias SA as the media entity owned by the La Oliva Town Hall and the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
With these two administrations, there are now six councils and 46 municipalities that are affiliated with this company, which is linked to the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion, and Water.
This arrangement allows them to secure external support for the execution of various projects of all kinds, including urban planning and development, as emphasised by the Executive in a statement.
The approved document permits the modification of Gestur Canarias’s statutes and enables both administrations to issue orders for the public company, provided these actions fall within their remit, particularly those deemed urgent or arising from declared emergency situations.
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Manuel Miranda, underscored the significance of these two new additions, as part of the strategy implemented by his department “to offer comprehensive support from the Government of the Canary Islands to councils and town administrations in updating territorial planning and to continue advancing their planning and development.”
Among the activities that Gestur Canarias is recognised for include the facilitation of work related to territorial planning and management tools, urbanisation projects, urban development activities, and the promotion or management of industrial, commercial, service, and residential land.
Furthermore, tasks associated with planning, urban and architectural projects, the formulation of specifications, bidding, awarding, or executing works, as well as the management of subsidies, are included.
Consequently, both the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the La Oliva Town Hall will have access to technical assistance and advice in areas such as planning, land management, construction, and in the processes of acquisition or sale, property valuations, subsidy management, or the harnessing of energy sources, particularly renewable energy, among other considerations.
The councils that have Gestur Canarias as their own media, in addition to the newly included one, are those of Tenerife, La Palma, Lanzarote, La Gomera, and El Hierro.
Similarly, the municipalities of Adeje, Agulo, Alajeró, Arafo, Arico, Arrecife, Breña Alta, Candelaria, El Paso, El Pinar, El Rosario, El Sauzal, El Tanque, Fasnia, Fuencaliente, Garachico, Garafía, Guía de Isora, Hermigua, Icod de los Vinos, La Guancha, La Matanza de Acentejo, La Victoria de Acentejo, Los Llanos de Aridane, Los Realejos, Los Silos, Puerto de la Cruz, Puntagorda, San Andrés y Sauces, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, San Cristóbal de la Laguna, San Juan de La Rambla, Santa Cruz de la Palma, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santiago del Teide, San Miguel de Abona, San Sebastián de la Gomera, Santa Úrsula, Tacoronte, Tazacorte, Tegueste, Tijarafe, Valle Gran Rey, Vallehermoso, and Valverde are in the same position.
